Eulogy
By Anushay Babar
Like meat at a butcher’s shop.
On the spectrum of who to appease,
The lust, the supposed modesty-
A good woman knows how to make the distinction- and she appears accordingly.
Educated from the exodus of the womb,
Veil the flesh,
Lower your gaze- or accept being lowered into one’s grave,
With a vinegar heart- renounce your voice.
Say nothing to the man whose eyes roam the semblance of any woman- be it a young girl-
He does as he pleases with a rosary in his hands,
A prayer on his lips,
And he preaches The Right Way to the masses:
Protect your women from godless men
Protect your honour, tied to her body- And never your faithful deeds.
If a question is permitted, one may ask-
If vulgarity is the cause of sin,
Who is aroused by a shroud,
And should he be able to reason,
One might unearth the cause of sin,
In his reflection,
Should he find.
